Carnivor PIK Jakarta Review

Is a review allowed to only have a word? Lol. 

Okay background story. I was wanting to try a pasta with Pesto sauce and I read here and there that Carnivor serves Pesto Pasta with Grilled Chicken. I was very excited and decided to went there, even though bf already gave early warning that this place is meh. (He went once before me and even though Carnivor is specialized in meat, bf said the steak is bad)

I still want! Because all the reviews are so good but when I was handed the menu... It's not there. I even asked the waitress, which look confused, and said grilled chicken pasta is served but not with pesto sauce fml.

So I'm forced to pick this because there are no other pasta that caught my fancy and also order calamary hoping it will be good. But no. Meh. The pasta itself is overcooked, meatballs are tasteless, the mushroom cream sauce is savory but overwhelmed with MSG... Meh.. This place is just meh. I don't know it's because I had such a high expectation before, but I really can't find anything nice.

Holycow Steakhouse Jakarta Review

Few weeks ago, I finally got to try the famous Holycow Steak. Heard that it serves good quality steak with cheap price. What I know after I ate there, it is not that cheap as people said :/ I think Gowagyu is cheaper (don't mean to compare).

We arrived at 7 or 8 PM at the Senopati branch, located at Jalan Bakti. Heard that now there's 2 kinds of Holycow: Steakhouse and Steakhotel. The original with Chef Afit is at Senopati, as well as other branches at Kelapa Gading and Kebon Jeruk. Upon arriving, greeted by queue of people. I thought it's quite late for dinner time but the place is still really packed. Waiting for our turn, we took time to learn the menu. The price for the steak is above IDR 80k though. Don't know how it is said as cheap? (If compared to those in mall of course is way cheaper, but I meant with other independent steak stalls)

200g Tenderloin Steak with Mushroom Sauce

Here's my order. You can customize the steak (200g or 400g), the potato (mashed or french fries), the veggies (sauteed bean or sauteed spinach), and the sauce which I picked the mushroom sauce which is marked as chef's recommendation.

My brother picked BBQ sauce while bf picked Blackpepper sauce. Both are much better than my mushroom sauce T______T My sauce just doesn't go well with the steak -________- for the meat I asked for medium well and it comes of tender, also I have no complain over the veggies and the potato. It's good but nothing is really special about it. It's not that kind of high end steak but it's an affordable good steak if you crave for one. For the drink there is bottomless choice for those who needs lots of liquid while eating *cough* bf *cough* you can choose Nestea Lemon Tea, Green Tea, and Blackcurrant Tea.

Tiramisu by MiSU

Order this for dessert. I thought I would get this for free but I was charged :( later on I know that they have like limited quota of the day, so not everybody can get free misu. Boo. It was delicious though. Only when I got this, it was really cold and I had to break the surface of the tiramisu (by knocking it with the spoon lol). But very yummy. It got an actual cake inside and everything they put just went well together. I once purchased tiramisu from famous bakery in mall (B**** T*** :p) and it only contains WHIPPED CREAM. What a waste of money.

My brother also had Apple Crumble by Mini Love Bites offered in their dessert menu and it was very good as well!

Kitchenette Plaza Indonesia Jakarta Review

Ugh I feel so outdated. People have been visiting this place soooo many times and waayyyyyy more frequently than me, while I, who did self-proclaimed as a food blogger, just got a chance to visit this place last week! What can I say I live so far away :(

We visit there around 3 or 4 PM, on weekend. And I can say, we're now officially the part of the hype. Why? Because we got into waiting list lol. While waiting they served free lemonade to those who waited :) I had good service as well. Even though I already put my name into the waiting list, still the waiter from inside come to me and offered to find me table. Which he did successfully! So I didn't wait for so long!! *happy* No I wasn't cutting the queue loh. It's my turn already :p

-Mango and Orange Elixir-

Unlike many other restaurants in Jakarta (like stated in few previous posts), sometimes I find it hard to choose drinks. I always look up for something that's worth the price. But in Kitchenette, I almost ordered 3 drinks. No kidding. I was hit by sunlight that day before reaching Kitchenette because I was crossing the road from Grand Indonesia to Plaza Indonesia, so I really craved for something fresh, sweet, and cold. I eyed the choices of elixir, frozen frappe (and any other frozen stuff, basically), and Creme Caramel by TWG. But ended up choosing this one. Because bf ordered frozen frappe I might just try it from him then.

-Cookies n Cream Frappe-

Not a big fan of whipped cream!! I hate whipped cream. But it tasted quite nice anyway. Bf said he would come back for this but I didn't agree. I was expecting strong cookies/chocolate flavor but then the coffee smell and taste dominated. Well it's frappe after all -_-

-Gateau-

Was ordering Theodore at first. But I didn't know why it's no longer available :( Disappointed. In the menu, it says that it came with roasted potato. What I had in mind that it would come with small rounded potato ball. Not a potato chip. That's too oily -_- The only thing I didn't like from the dish honestly. Beneath those potatoes lies melted cheese and pork bacon (you can choose between pork and turkey). The galette itself is unique. At first you will say it's like the ordinary martabak, but the more you chewed, the more you craved for it!

It's quite funny though how they named the savory one with guys' name, while the sweet galette/crepes with girls' name :D This is bf's order. Filled with meat everywhere. Ordered pork one as well. And that round meat is spicy!! For me at least. He likes it so much. I guess he'd make a better food judge rather than me because he said the word "like this food" so rarely.

Ninety-Nine Grand Indonesia Jakarta Review

Oh look. A full month not updating my blog here comes new interface on Blogger. I'm sucks on adapting :( Anytime there's new interface of Facebook, Twitter, or any social media, I always post somewhere to rant -_-

Anyway, hi to readers! I've been gaining quite views lately so I thank all of you who opened this blog or just being redirected here by Google. Hehe.. appreciate them all. Hope you enjoy my writing and my pictures, also please comment or criticize because I'm still lack of many things :)

In the mid of February, me and bf went to Ninety-Nine at Grand Indonesia. This is my second visit. First time was in the mid of June 2011, I had beef Steak there. (Tenderloin if I'm not mistaken) but didn't bother to take any pic because the taste of the steak was too "heavy" for me I guess. I mean it's a good way that they sold good meat, but it's just too bold for a girl. Even so, I was eating it with a hungry state which should mean that the food should've been tasted better but it's not. I still recall, however, the mashed potato was superb and I had foodgasm while eating the Strawberry Mille Feuille.

Cute menu! Lol. Special beverage for Valentine's Day (no, wasn't visiting during Valentine's though) was Love Crush. Contains of Strawberries, Watermelon, Grenadine, and Whipped Cream. I'm a big fan or Strawbie and Watermelon, but hating whipped cream. But, Grenadine.. I never know how the original taste actually is because it's always mixed in my drink lol #failedfoodblogger .

Love Crush and Lychee Iced Tea! Bf said the iced tea was too sweet :| My drink was refreshing, but too bad only available for short period of time. The other beverages menu there weren't too appealing for me. We took very long time to decide the drink -_-

 Bakmi Pinggiran

O_O what a name. He said this was the best noodle he had in his entire life. He previously ate this once with his office colleague and decided to order the same food again -_- man..

This order came gazillion years after my food came. (lol okay exaggerating. But it was more than 20 mins.)

My order was Pork.. something -_- (this is what you get when you procrastinated!) Not Pork Knuckle, not Pork Belly, not baby back.. I forget what this is -_- all I know that this is SUPER YUMMY. (this is the very last menu on the pork section on the menu book :D) It came with some kind Potato Salad, Sauteed Bean, 3 onion rings (obvious what), and the pork itself. I ordered side dish mashed potato because: 1) I remember how delicious it is. 2) I thought it will only came in pork and veggies because that's how my steak came last year. Turned out I was wrong. But still, mashed potato here is the best. But now they separated the mushroom sauce. Previously they made a curve in the potato and pour the sauce there. But this was good as well. The most delicious part of this pork dish is.. the bean. HAHAHA. I don't know how they can saute the bean so good! And then the sauce, then the pork, then the potato. I don't eat onions so I gave it to bf.

It was a very nice lunch and I was so full I can't finish the mashed potato. I left like 2 or 3 scoops of it. Because I was saving my tummy for dessert!! I walked to counter just to find out that they no longer sell the Mille Feuille. *heart scattered into pieces* Then decided to go with their Raspberry Red Velvet Slice.

I read a lot of complains from food bloggers that when they eat a red velvet it's usually too sweet. This one, however, fits the description of Red Velvet from Wikipedia. Or maybe because of the raspberry. Because this one is sour :) It is topped with white chocolate and mini white chocolate macaroon. The cream frosting was raspberry cream. But the cake was dry :( Not moist. The sauce was a mix of milk, white chocolate, and drips of raspberry. Cut it from top to bottom, slide it into sauce, then.. NOM NOM NOM ♥ Even bf who hates sweet things and cake, say this is delicious!

Poste Kitchen & Bar Review

It was last minute lunch. That day was both of me and my bf day off, so we walked around for little city tour. The day before I was reading something (forget what -.-) there I found an article about Poste and I'm tempted to try it. My friend already warned me that the food there is "Simple and Plain". I don't even know what he meant. He even hasn't tried it himself. Despite of that, I still want to try Poste. I even called the restaurant to make sure it is opened (because it was weekday), also to make sure of the location lol.

Arriving there, it turns out it is an office building or something? And people who were eating there are either employees or foreigners.

Here's the menu. It is actually the same menu. On the front side is food, and on the back side is beverage. Poste means post. So the menu was design cutely like an envelope. It doesn't really much choice though :(

-Bacon Wrapped Chicken-

Here's my order. It's perfectly cooked. The mashed potato also the best. The chicken has truffle mushroom inside and you can actually chew those veggies. The sauce is also nice and got just enough taste.

-Duck Confit with Sweet Potato-

This is bf's order. Managed to steal the bacon and sweet potato but it doesn't really my style. He loved the duck though.

-Blackcurrant Tea-

Nothing really tempting on the drink menu so I'll go with the tea. Tasted just okay. Bf got Honey Chamomile Tea and it's like diabetically super sweet :|

Overall Poste has good food. Didn't try the dessert because we're having dessert somewhere else. Though if I don't remember, I may have ordered the Mille Feuille just to give a try but the food was stuffing my tummy I even left few pieces of the chicken. It's yummy but I won't come back just for the chicken, because that's the only food worth the price IMO. I might have going to another Western restaurant next time :)

Fish and Co. Mall Taman Anggrek Review

Uh.. I've been here quite many times. Usually my college buddies celebrate their birthday in here. I feel like I already memorized their menu already lol :p But this time I went with my parents which this is their first time :)

-the almost gone Mushroom Soup-

Yum! Too bad it didn't come with garlic bread.

-New York Fish and Chips-

This is my mom and my order. (We shared.) Changed the fries into mashed potato. Not match at all -_- Since New York style uses cheese and on the mashed potato they put creamy milk? I should remember next time to stick with regular fries. The rice seems tempting too though but mom didn't want rice so...

-Singapore Style Fish and Chips-

It has chili crab spread all over the fish. I was having this on September 2011 and there was a huge gaming event at that time. They used Fish & Co. for their guests meeting place and the place was swarming! I came with my friends and ordered this menu. At that time, the crab spread wasn't spicy at all. This time when pop ordered this, tastes nice! Wah -_-

-Blackcurrant Tea-

My drink! In my opinion this is better than Passion Fruit one. And I always order the one you can refill :D During eating this I was tweeting to official Twitter of Fish and Co. And I was actually getting free drink DM-ed by the admin of Fish & Co. But I wasn't using it since I already order the tea. The free drink is Big Fish Drink and it is HUGE. My drink is refill one! Can't fit on my tummy anymore lah. Even eating main course shared -_-

I just wondered if I used the code for next visit in Fish & Co., will it still be valid? As I got it in November 2011 :| (yes, you read this right. This is post from visiting at November 2011 T_T procrastinating to the max.)

And I LOVE Fish & Co. Choco Fudge Cake! Hopefully I can get one. And order one so I can have two ;)

It's almost Chinese New Year and I'll be spending my Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at either Mall Taman Anggrek or Central Park. There should be many posts coming up if I'm not delaying again :p

Happy Independence Day, Indonesia!

Actually I'm not that kind of people that celebrating my country's independence day by having the so called Flag Ceremony. Since I'm in the last year of college now and the ones that have duty to attend flag ceremony is official government employees and freshmen, in my college's rules. I'm neither of them lol. Kinda ironic though, since all my friends, Indonesia citizen living abroad, is asked to attend this ceremony every August 17th in the Embassy of Republic Indonesia in the country they're living. While the actual citizen that lives in the country itself, not having it. But that's not what I'm gonna discuss anyway :|

Most people in this capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta, apparently using this public holiday to have family or friends quality time at shopping mall. I wasn't realizing that at first. My friend asked me the day before 17th, that he wants to meet up with me at Central Park at 17th. I was fine and going. And in the last minute my brother joining as well. I was going with shuttle bus. First I was seated, the bus was still quite empty. I got 2 seats for myself. Next thing I know, it's stuffed. No room to move -_- But anyhow, the road was empty. It only took like half an hour for me to move from my place to West Jakarta. I thought all people were resting at their house from hectic working days. Turned out Central Park is more like a traditional market than a new shopping mall. It's freaking crowded!!

We decided to eat at OMO Chicken, a Korean chicken restaurant. Well actually it's already decided like gazillion months ago but I can't go since there's this and that. This my friend is a big fan of OMO. My bro has gone here once. He wasn't that fanboy-ing over OMO. But my other best friend also said OMO really has the best Chicken Wings in town. So I decided to eat here then.

-Kids Meal-

Haha yeah.. You read that correctly. That is my order and I ordered Kids Meal. It looks freaking cute!! Lol. It comes with 6 Nori Rice Ball, 2 Chicken Wings and a pathetic Corn Salad. I hate corn. And also includes Pororo Drink. I chose Apple flavor. The other menu named Combo Chicken, comes with your choice of Chicken Wings' sauce: Hot/Tomato/Soya. It will look more tempting though but it comes with regular white rice which if you want to change into this delicious Rice Ball you have to add IDR 5,000 and the provided drink for this menu is Corn Tea. Okay that might be healthy or whatever, but I just can't drink it. First I hate corn. Second, it smells like corn. Third, first time I saw it, both my bro and I said "Pee". You see what I mean? But Combo Chicken gives better salad with lettuce etc, while Kids Meal only gives CORN. What's with corn and this restaurant?

And yes. The chicken wings is awesome! And the Rice Ball just have the perfect scale of tastiness!! The other menus also look tempting but I already got full with Chicken Wings and Rice Ball. This Sunday I'll come back there with my friends who love OMO. I might be having Combo Chicken but no way in hell I'm gonna drink that Corn Tea. Too bad I find OMO is kinda pricey.

OMO provides 2 seating areas.

First is inside. Quite small, but comes with fluffy and maximum cute of OMO plush. (Their logo is a chick. Little chicken, not a girl --a) The advantage of seating inside is you can take many adorable photos and there's TV that keeps playing Korean songs, Music Videos, and live performances. If you're a K-Pop fan, you're gonna sit there for hours. The ambiance is really nice. Their place is also clean one and dominated with white color.

Second seating is outside, which is fresher, cooler, and wider. At night where Central Park usually holds a firework event, that'll be advantage to seat outside. It's just no TV outside. So you can't enjoy K-Pop songs.

After eating there, we go round and round without destination. I went to ALDO and ZARA to find nude pumps for me but can't find my size. It's all available in 39 and 40. While I want 38. So my friend suggested Grand Indonesia. Besides we really getting hectic seeing the crowded mall so we moved. Took an hour to reach Grand Indonesia because of unimportant traffic jam -_-

At Grand Indonesia, it turns out the available sizes are also 39 and 40. Fml max. Even worse ALDO's price is IDR 1,167,000 while in Central Park is 50% off (IDR 585,000). How could that happen? I'm seriously confused. But anyway since I really crave for the pumps then I bought the size 39 ZARA. I just love it and must have it ;) Lol.

We had dinner at 5PM. Lol. We chose Social House. It's me and my brother's first time eating here. We were arguing at first since I also tempted to try Mr. Curry. Both are Ismaya Group anyway. My friend already warned me that eating at Social House might resulting 4 times extra payment than eating at Mr. Curry lol. But my bro insisted on Social House, so here we were.

First order to come is my drink called Mango Tango. Its a mango smoothie with passion syrup. Or the description says so. It's healthy and yummy! Not too sweet. Not sour. And still has powerful mango flavor and I believe it's freshly from the real fruit.

Then these are Once Bitten (on the left) and my Mango Tango. Once Bitten is my bro's order. It's an apple smoothie with ice cream vanilla. Tastes sweet. Quarter of the glass was drank by me. Guys do hate sweet things, ain't them? Man, these beverages are amazing. Even Social House is so proud of their drinks, they provide a special bar for beverages only (both alcohol and non-alcohol) and there's also a wine cellar. The confidence of Social House about their beverages shown in their tissue. Really that tissue below those drinks.

Confident much? Lol. But if they're not that pricey I'll surely have another drink ;)

This is Grandma's Homemade Iced Lemon Tea. Social House's signature beverage. Topped by vanilla ice cream. Ordered by my friend. I didn't try tho ;p

FOOD COMINGGGGGGG~

This is my order ♥ Crispy Pork Belly with White Beans and Sage. I also ordered additional Mashed Potato. One word to describe this dish: HEAVEN. Heavenly dish!!!! I usually didn't eat white beans but this one is perfectly cooked!! Even my bro said the white beans is the most delicious part of this dish lol. The pork is a bit overwhelming. Really tight meat and the super heavenly tasty sauce didn't really get absorbed in there. But it's still best pork I've ever tasted. And the yummy crispy skin on the top of it just PERFECT. Too bad the calories seems quite high so I share my other crispy skin to my friend and bro :( Half for each. I want this back again so badddddddddd. The mashed potato I should say Ninety-Nine served better because it comes with mushroom lol. But SoHo's not bad either :)

This is my bro's appetizer. It's written Small Plates. But as you can see, it's not. Lol. Even bro seems surprised when this comes. This is Crispy Fried Eggplant with Melted Cheese. It's tempting me but I didn't try it since I was too busy with my own food lol. Bro said the cheese is more dominant than the eggplant taste tho.

This is lil bro's main order: Lamb Shank with Red Curry served with Mashed Potato. Red curry is spicy -_- but lil bro seems to be fine with it. And the lamb is delicious!! Perfectly cooked and so soft. Though it looks like common lamb shank in another restaurant on appearance lol.

-Omatesando Roll-

I guess deep down those melted cheese cover is 6 rolls of California Sushi if I'm not mistaken lol. Ordered by my friend. I didn't try. He also ordered Roti Prata but I didn't take the pic!! Damn me.


Anyway that's my food journey for Independence Day. It's a really fun day! Too bad I didn't try the dessert at SoHo. I believe it's awesome :) I WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK! :))
