Ninety-Nine Grand Indonesia Jakarta Review

Oh look. A full month not updating my blog here comes new interface on Blogger. I'm sucks on adapting :( Anytime there's new interface of Facebook, Twitter, or any social media, I always post somewhere to rant -_-

Anyway, hi to readers! I've been gaining quite views lately so I thank all of you who opened this blog or just being redirected here by Google. Hehe.. appreciate them all. Hope you enjoy my writing and my pictures, also please comment or criticize because I'm still lack of many things :)

In the mid of February, me and bf went to Ninety-Nine at Grand Indonesia. This is my second visit. First time was in the mid of June 2011, I had beef Steak there. (Tenderloin if I'm not mistaken) but didn't bother to take any pic because the taste of the steak was too "heavy" for me I guess. I mean it's a good way that they sold good meat, but it's just too bold for a girl. Even so, I was eating it with a hungry state which should mean that the food should've been tasted better but it's not. I still recall, however, the mashed potato was superb and I had foodgasm while eating the Strawberry Mille Feuille.

Cute menu! Lol. Special beverage for Valentine's Day (no, wasn't visiting during Valentine's though) was Love Crush. Contains of Strawberries, Watermelon, Grenadine, and Whipped Cream. I'm a big fan or Strawbie and Watermelon, but hating whipped cream. But, Grenadine.. I never know how the original taste actually is because it's always mixed in my drink lol #failedfoodblogger .

Love Crush and Lychee Iced Tea! Bf said the iced tea was too sweet :| My drink was refreshing, but too bad only available for short period of time. The other beverages menu there weren't too appealing for me. We took very long time to decide the drink -_-

 Bakmi Pinggiran

O_O what a name. He said this was the best noodle he had in his entire life. He previously ate this once with his office colleague and decided to order the same food again -_- man..
This order came gazillion years after my food came. (lol okay exaggerating. But it was more than 20 mins.)

My order was Pork.. something -_- (this is what you get when you procrastinated!) Not Pork Knuckle, not Pork Belly, not baby back.. I forget what this is -_- all I know that this is SUPER YUMMY. (this is the very last menu on the pork section on the menu book :D) It came with some kind Potato Salad, Sauteed Bean, 3 onion rings (obvious what), and the pork itself. I ordered side dish mashed potato because: 1) I remember how delicious it is. 2) I thought it will only came in pork and veggies because that's how my steak came last year. Turned out I was wrong. But still, mashed potato here is the best. But now they separated the mushroom sauce. Previously they made a curve in the potato and pour the sauce there. But this was good as well. The most delicious part of this pork dish is.. the bean. HAHAHA. I don't know how they can saute the bean so good! And then the sauce, then the pork, then the potato. I don't eat onions so I gave it to bf.

It was a very nice lunch and I was so full I can't finish the mashed potato. I left like 2 or 3 scoops of it. Because I was saving my tummy for dessert!! I walked to counter just to find out that they no longer sell the Mille Feuille. *heart scattered into pieces* Then decided to go with their Raspberry Red Velvet Slice.

I read a lot of complains from food bloggers that when they eat a red velvet it's usually too sweet. This one, however, fits the description of Red Velvet from Wikipedia. Or maybe because of the raspberry. Because this one is sour :) It is topped with white chocolate and mini white chocolate macaroon. The cream frosting was raspberry cream. But the cake was dry :( Not moist. The sauce was a mix of milk, white chocolate, and drips of raspberry. Cut it from top to bottom, slide it into sauce, then.. NOM NOM NOM ♥ Even bf who hates sweet things and cake, say this is delicious!

End result of my cake:

Lol. *shameless* Ok bye! :p

Pork Alert

Last week has been a devastating for non-Moslem Indonesian citizen. Lol okay I was exaggerating. Last week was a Lebaran holiday. As it always happens every year in Indonesia, more than half people in the capital city, Jakarta, were going back to their hometown in an activity called "mudik". As this happened, many food places and restaurants are closed. The ones that stayed in Jakarta had hard times in finding food. But I enjoy my precious one week holiday tho ;) Here are photos of my food during Lebaran holiday! :D

Nasi Campur

I believe it doesn't have English name :| This was eaten at ITC Mangga Dua 2nd floor in a kiosk named Casio Garing Bintang Lima. Consists of 3 types of Pork (Lapciong, Char Siew, Crispy Pork Skin), slices of chicken and half boiled egg. The rice is cooked with Hainanese Rice's style. Yum-meh! A must eat every time I went shopping at ITC ;D

Sekba

Muahaha be afraid of this food. This is Sekba. Contains of a lotttt of pork's intestines, lungs, Chinese pickled vegetables, potatoes, tofus, and boiled with lots of traditional Chinese ingredients, I believe. (Since you can smell a strong unpleasant aroma from this food lol.) Usually there's even skins from pig and its meat but by the time I bought it, it's sold out already! Bought at Pluit during Lebaran holiday and this place is super crowded! I even ate the delicious Duck Beehoon there but I forgot to snap hehe~ Even tho it smells horribly (kekeke) but the taste is definitely worth the smell!

Mille Crepe

The next day I had lunch with my family at Sushi Tei Central Park. I guess I don't need to snap sushi's pictures since I think everybody is familiar with Sushi Tei. But this dessert! Not so new. I've had it quite few times I just finally remember to snap the pic this time lol. So I proudly present, the Green Tea Mille Crepe topped with Red Bean Sauce from Mionette Cakes cooperated with Sushi Tei. (I just found this out minutes ago! Lol.) This is the mille crepe that has strongest milk taste among other crepe cakes I've ever tasted. And I mean this in a good way ;)

Hmm. Kinda confused to write the name lol. So after the lunch at Sushi Tei @ 3 PM, we continued to this restaurant named Beautika Restaurant @ 5.30 PM. Barbaric much? Lol. Beautika Restaurant located at Tanah Abang, Jakarta. Its specialty is in Manado (North Sulawesi) Food which is famous for its super spicy foods. I once had lunch here and this place has many choices of food and they put in on display so I can't snap one by one /sob. We came back here at late afternoon just to eat the super delicious Fried Banana served with Spicy Sambal and Es Kacang Duren (Shaved Ice with Durian and Red Beans). Best best combination ever! The spicy sambal is not only usual sambal. I can't even describe it. I mean it's not only consists of chili but there's a lot more and making it super tasty. And you eat it with sweet fried banana! Really worth to try and I would like to come back there every month :p And the shaved ice just delicious. Never before I adore local food as I adore my hometown food haha.

Pork Hainanese Rice

Instant Noodle!

Yay to pathetic food! Haha. No no. The pork rice is really amazing. I don't know where mom's best friend bought it then she sent it to our apartment. The crispy pork skin is flawless! Also comes with delicious sauce and perfect chili sauce. Yum yum yum! (Auntie, send us some more! :p)

2 ways cooked Suckling Baby Pig

Um.. I just realized that I haven't taken the pic after it left that amount :| Delicious!! Crispy Pork Skin and Honey Roasted Pork from MayStar Central Park. Yum yum yum! The other food I ordered was just okay. I will only come back for the pork and Yang Chow Fried Rice. And after I think back, if the Peking Duck wasn't sold out, we probably wouldn't notice this yum-yum pork ♥

Pork Skin!

Again! Haha. I told my uncle that I had lunch of pork and he thought I still want it so he ordered it. Again! Lol. This is Pork with Crispy Skin from Imperial Chef Hayam Wuruk. Mind to see my table? Here we go ;)

Mayo Shrimp, Peking Duck, Garlic Asparagus, Tofu -something (lol)

Char Siew Pao, Siew Mai, the same Mayo Shrimp as above

Not to mention the pork and Century Egg Congee (Pitan Egg) that has been done first, all of this table for 4 girls only! Me, my cousin and her 11 years old sisters. We're so good at eating ;D

Lo Mie Kangkung

The famous Lo Mie Kangkung from Cucu Pinangsia Greenville :) Pork alert. Haha. I made great decision by hitting the gym after these enormous calories from holiday. Anyway, may what I share be useful though.
Have a nice day! :)

Dessert Island

Lotte Choco Pie ♥
Happy Promise? What does that imply? :| Anyway bought it at Food Mart Gourmet in a medium red box. Each box contains 6 small packages and it keeps calling me whenever I walk, so I decided to buy ♥

Lotte Choco Pie (inside)
Two soft cakes as top and bottom. And in the middle is... Marshmallow! I thought it was vanilla cream filling! I was fooled x_x

Mango Pudding
The tissue below the glass printed Genting. Well it was in Genting Highland, Malaysia but I can hardly remember sorry. This was taken on October 2010 :| But Mango Pudding is always been my favorite dessert in almost every Chinese Restaurant so this must also be a good one ;)

Roti Prata Ice Cream
Roti Prata is an Indian Cuisine but the cafe combines it with 3 selections of Ice Cream, with poured Chocolate Sauce. Heaven! (Location: Safari Cafe, Padang - West Sumatra)

3 scoops of Strawberry Ice Cream
Nothing special just want to get all of you drooled. *getting punched from every sides*

Waffle with Strawberry Ice Cream and Banana Slices
Yummy look right? I was having this one day before my dental surgery. This waffle is hard to chew. So. Chewy. With standard-of-course-yummy strawberry ice cream and sweet banana slices. But BEWARE! There's hidden peanut butter in every corner of the waffle! If you like peanut then good. If you don't then get ready to dig up! Get rid of it! Ugh.. (Location: Malacca)

Haagen Dazs' Passion Waffle Delight
I changed the Ice Cream selection since there's no Passion Fruit flavor available at that time -_- that was Strawberry and Raspberry, I guess.

Haagen Dazs' Banana Split
My friend changed the Ice Cream selection into Green Tea, Belgian Chocolate and Vanilla. Lol looks kinda funny though, but delicious! Well you can always trust Haagen Dazs :p (Location: Central Park, Jakarta)

Harvest' Chocolate Cake
This was a slice from a birthday cake.

Ice Durian
A must try dessert for Durian lovers! Not much place can make a good one though. Most of the place use over matured durian causing the taste being overwhelming. (Location: Padang)

Chocolate Brownies
Handmade brownies by little sister! Unbelievably yummy ;9

Cornetto Disc Strawberry
Topped with thick chocolate and peanuts, all strawberry ice cream with strawberry jam inside in the middle of ice cream and crunchy ice cream cone! (Produced by: Wall's)

So. Here's my collection of almost one year desserts ;p May you all get encouraged to keep eating desserts as important part of daily meal. Desserts bless you!

Predator's Day!

Not a public holiday of course haha.. Today I just felt being such a little monstrous predator. So many things've been eaten by me.

Waking up in the morning I ate instan noodle with Oxtail Soup flavor. I know that wouldn't fullfil my tummy well that's why I ate it. I've made a so-called-date with my bestest girlfriend. (she's sometimes been misunderstood as my lesbian LOL) and I don't want my tummy to be full and cannot accept other food, well so I ate the noodle at 10 AM. Then at 12 PM she called me to join her eating Nasi Padang at campus. That doesn't look so tempting that's why I didn't take a picture of it :p though it tastes like little heaveeennn with Ayam Goreng Bumbu, daun Singkong, green pepper sambal, and its signature vegetables. (go Google those things written in Indonesia. You'll find tasty food :p)

After eating lunch, then we go dating haha.. We ate our dessert which is cakes at Imperial Cakery Lippo Karawaci. It's located above TIMES Bookstore UPH. Not so many people know about it because of lack promotion. Though it has another branch which is more popular at Supermal Karawaci.
Um additional information. For me, Imperial Cakery is not a place that worth to have propel meal and the bakery doesn't have good bread. But I trully recommend the cakes. My friend once tried Green Tea Slice Cake (which wasn't available when I was there =.=) and he said that's the best Green Tea Cake he ever tasted. He's a pâtissier himself. So I believe on him though I haven't tried yet :)

Here's the picture of our cakes :D

They are Chocolate Truffle Slice Cake and Tiramisu.

Zoomed version:

1. Chocolate Truffle Slice Cake
This was eaten by my friend. She doesn't even give me to try LOL. Kidding.. I was just too busy with my Tiramisu. This Chocolate Truffle Cake, as you can see from the picture, made of very thick chocolate cream and less sponge cake. Half eaten by her she can't stop saying delicious. But after going to the end of the cake, she realized that cake is way too sweet and she's getting quite full. That small cake is really good at making tummy feels full. But as she reviewed to me, the truffle powder is great and not bitter or too sweet at all. The thing that is too sweet is the choco cream haha.. Poor her :p

2. Tiramisu
This is my cake. It consists of 4 layers. 2 Cheese cream layers and 2 coffee sponge cake. The last layer in the bottom has a very deep taste of coffee *which I don't like*. But the Cream Cheese is just perfectttttt. With Truffle powder on the top, it's counted as one of my best dessert though. The Cream Cheese part only :p

My Tiramisu costs Rp 21,000.00
Choco Truffle costs Rp 17,500.00
Both of them before taxes and service charge. I have no comment about the price :|

OOT: WTH happen with you blogspot?? I'm going crazy just to post 1 photo WTFWTF!! ~_~ STOP SAVING YOU'RE MOVING MY MOUSE!!!

Kay back to topic. After having proper lunch and dessert at Karawaci, I continued my food journey to Mall Taman Anggrek Jakarta with my boy for dinner. Some unpleasant things happened causing me very bad mood until now. Plus some changes on this Blogspot getting me so mad. So I'm super mad now =D
(actually this is also an excuses why there's no photo below anymore. Sowwwyyy :x)

Anyway we had Pepper Lunch. Me having Juicy Cut Steak as usual, but today plus Spicy Salad Tuna. And this is my first time trying the salad and it is D E L I C I O U S !! With Udon on the bottom, spicy tuna, mayo, lettuce, carrot and some additional I couldn't recognize completed with dry fish topping (like the one on Takoyaki or Okonomiyaki). Shake them all into 1 part and I melted just like a mayooo~ it's delicioussssss!! SO recommended.

After finishing dinner at Pepper Lunch, we went to Sour Sally Frozen Yoghurt to try their new flavour: Sally Candy. It's actually the twist of Stylish Melon Mint with Pinklicious. I don't know why they gave new name but it IS again a delicious one. Man.. my meal today was foodgasm! Love it :)
I ate my Sally Candy on size small and it has 2 toppings. Yeap Sour Sally has a permanent additional topping for all Sally's lover. Small size which usually has 1 topping's been upgraded to 2 toppings. As well as Medium and Large. They become having 3 toppings and 4 toppings. No increasing price or additional charge! Don't you love it? ;)

Anyway that's all I can write for now. Sorry for lacking of photos. Try to make it up on the next post. Dealing with my bad mood time then. See ya~ :)
